Ah Facebook!

I saw a post on Facebook today that said “Life without God is empty.” I don’t know why posts like this one (still?) trigger me. I SHOULD be more mature than this now, able to scroll past and say “Oh, you poor darlings who need a god to make sense of your lives.” But I’m not. I’m not at that point. Maybe because I feel like it’s condescending to assume that everyone without your specific religious worldview can’t lead meaningful, full lives. (Side note: I could go and argue the old straw man in the comments, “Which god?” But I know they mean the Christian god specifically.) So when I replied that “it really isn’t”, the OP said that once you have that “our maker” experience you couldn’t live without him. Well, I HAVE had that experience and I’ve come out the looking glass on the other side. So here I am. Ranting about a stupid Facebook post because I am in a quandary. I do believe in free speech. I’m not an anti-theist. But I also don’t like feeling “evangelised” or patronised on Facebook because I’ve lost my faith.
